this post it dedicated to purplerayn. ponder on it for a bit kay.
watched today's 'ho chak' merdeka special and they asked 50 artist on what's their fave food. top 5 is char keoy teow, nasi lemak, satey, bak kut teh and laksa. ohh watching all those super duper yummilicous food just before dinner is sooo disastrous.
so that made me think for a moment. yea, its grrreat to be malaysian with soooo much type of foodies to choose from. but seriously, if you were to move to another country, what would you missed most?? would you like attempt to go on a crash course to cook it? k, yea most importantly need ingredients (would you be able to find it there? the answer is usually yes you can. thanks to chinatown in every country!) and some cooking skills and maybe the recipe. i remembered last time in perth i helped out to make nasi lemak for mma, where i learned a thing or 2 bout marinating chicken, which was so cool to able to eat nasi lemak after dunno how long. imagine all the m'sian students were very thankful for that.
so think bout it. what is your most fave food? which would you most missed when you are away from m'sia? of course, i don't mean when we are in another country doesn't mean there is no m'sian food being sold there. i'm pretty sure there is. but it might not be the same. in term of taste... environ... where else would there be 24hr mamaks to just hang out??! maybe its me but i never really been anywhere that have 24hr mamaks. not even singapore. so don 't ask me where's the mamak in sg. i have no idea.
i have a fren, bea who's now in new york. the last round when she was back, she asked her granny to make for her 'gandum'. its a type of dessert. every. single. day. her poor mom was very sick of having to eat it daily that when we went to visit her at her home, her mom was delighted. at least someone is helping to eat it. but the point is.. bea loves gandum. when she's back, she wants to eat it everyday! as for me... i'm such a piggy that i would have say everything!!! in fact, before leaving, i would go on a eat-ta-ton. like those good ol' days when the family balik kampung to penang and we would be stuffing our faces with copious amount of food... hmmmm....
so, what would be your answer purplerayn? and with that.... we could maybe eat what you would missed the most to your hearts desire when we go out next. oh but the date at the apartment is still on rite...
